13 Weeks

13 weeks!

Baby Beck:

its really hard to write on chalkboards with crappy cheap chalk:)
oh, and that says Georgia Peach.. i was a little off on my measuring:)

How far along? 13 weeks, 5 days
Total weight gain/loss: Not quite sure, but I would guess around 2-3 pounds
Maternity clothes?  Not yet although I am slowly parting from my tighter pants to soft, stretchy ones! Also I can't stand wearing tight shirts... I am sooo in the awkward stage and I much prefer loose fitting ones until I really pop and it's more obvious ha ha.
Stretch marks? No and I am soo hoping to avoid them. Check out my >>Week 12<< post for what I am using.
Sleep: Good for the most part. I'm not needing as much of it (naps, etc) as I did in my first trimester. So that's good! However I have noticed that I wake up kind of achy in my neck/temples/jaw.. I clench my teeth at night a lot more than I used to. I always have at some level, but it seems to be a bit more! Good thing I work in the right field for that:)
Movement: Nope.. hopefully within the next month
Food cravings:Really loving the Protein Style (lettuce wrapped) cheeseburgers from In N Out:):):) mmmm. I can't have wheat, so I've gotten protein style for a while. Can I just say burgers are like 10 times better that way?! You can taste so much more without the bun getting in the way. Anyway, those are soo yummy. Also I am loving hot chocolate (from Holiday) haha. It has been rainy this week and my Texas-acclimated self thinks it is cold at 73 degrees. Still loving watermelon. And cucumbers mmm. We had Thai food from Sawadee in Salt Lake... soo in love with Thai! And that place is the best:)
ALSO SMARTIES. i bought a whole bag full the other day.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still the same thing! Exhaust smell from cars/motorcycles. So weird. No foods, really. Well the thought of Chinese kind of makes my stomach turn.
Have you started to show yet:Mitch can finally tell, and I definitely can. When I wear tighter clothes (which is rare) others can tell probably I am bigger around the waist.
Gender prediction: Still changing my mind every week! You have 8 days left to guess! Guess over here ----->
Belly Button in or out?  in
Mood: Happy!
Weekly Wisdom: Hmmm.. I would have to say don't forget to do things that make you happy. Really, you're only pregnant for a short time. If you want a different smell in your house just because the current smell makes you sad (ha ha), go buy new scentsys or candles or whatever:) If you really just do not want to fix dinner one night.. take advantage of take out! If you feel like taking a bubble bath just because... do it. If you want to be in sweats all day, now is the time! Pregnancy should be happy! I know some of the littlest things can either turn an entire day around or turn your world upside down and be such a big deal (even though they are little and unimportant things to other nonhormonal people), so don't be afraid to just do things that make you happy. You'll be a happier and better wife for it. Mitch has said, "I would rather you go buy a new candle thing or ask me to pick up take-out if it means you will be happy [aka not hormonal.. he was nice to not say it:) ] when I come home." ha ha ha. I guess there is truth in that!
Looking forward to:Hopefully finding out the gender in 8 days.. next Saturday!!!

12 Weeks

12 weeks!

Baby Beck:

>>12 weeks old
>>2.1 inches long
>>weighs 0.49 ounces
>>the size of a plum
>>28 weeks left

How far along? 12 weeks and 6 days.  I am writing this a bit late this week- I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow!
Total weight gain/loss: not quite sure! We will see on the 4th at my Dr.'s visit
Maternity clothes?  no but my normal jeans and pants are starting to be pretty tight! Slowly transitioning to staying in my scrubs constantly or just changing to yoga pants or leggings. Super styling lately.
Stretch marks? I am hoping my lotion helps with that. My nerd self has done a ton of research on what is best at preventing them. I have found that cocoa butter is best as well as this little secret:

St. Ive's Collagen Elastin Moisturizer.  It is meant for your face, but there is a reason why the nicest and most expensive lotions are face lotions. They are what people care about most! So the best lotions are going to be face lotions. Anyway, I use this at night along with an Olay total effects moisturizer (for my face) and was reading the ingredients on the back of this St. Ive's one one day. Okay. People. This has legit hydrolyzed collagen and hydrolyzed elastin in it. Like liquid gold.  I guess Dr. Oz recommends this as the best moisturizer for women because of the potent ingredients. Best part? This whole jar costs like 4 bucks. Long story short, I use it on my tummy alternating with cocoa butter to hopefully avoid those stretch marks. Either way.. I recommend this for your face big time!!
Sleep: Good! Wanting a lot of it! I do think I have some more energy this week than the last few.
Best moment this week: Picking out names for baby B. We will find out the gender in about 2 weeks and already have a few in mind. Its fun that Mitch and I like the same kind of names.

We made a list of our favorites during church today. They are secret for now..:)

Miss Anything?  Totally miss sleeping on my stomach! I used to usually sleep on my side, but I liked to fall asleep on my stomach and then turn over.  A few months left of side-only sleeping for me!
Movement: None for a while
Food cravings:Remember how last week it was spaghetti squash? Still loving that. I am loving mashed potatoes. MMMM. Ice cream lately has been quite uninteresting.. never feel like it even when others are eating it (I know.. what?) Also, cliché... pickles. I know. MMM  Mitch was having a sandwich today and was making it with pickles, and they looked kind of like really really good. so I had one...and then two.. and then three. For some reason the western family brand of dill pickles are like unreal? They are even better than the vlasic brand. Mitch and I are both loving them today haha. He says he has been having a sympathy pregnancy with me.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still the exhaust smell from Mitch's motorcycle and the smell of it on his clothes after he rides it. BLEH! It makes me want to die! haha. But no food smells or anything.
Have you started to show yet:Yes! Just barely. Probably people who know me really well and see me regularly could notice, but it just looks like I have gained weight or something to others I assume:)
Gender prediction: This week I am thinking boy. I change my mind every week.
Belly Button in or out?  in
Mood: Happy!
Weekly Wisdom: It is really tiring to be pregnant.. especially in your first trimester! I read some of the best advice ever one day.. over at darling >>Karina Powell's<< blog. She wrote about how when she was first pregnant, the first thing her mom told her was "pregnancy is not a disease." How true! What that means is you will be tired, you will be sick, and you won't feel like doing things a lot of the time. Karina talked about how your spouse does not deserve 9 months of that! I totally agree. It is hard sometimes but your husband is still your husband and shouldn't have to suffer. Likely he will be sweet and kind and patient on those nights that you really aren't up for much and he will be a way good sport.. but out of love for him, try to still be his wife as much as you can!
Looking forward to:Finding out the gender in 2 ish weeks!

11 Weeks

We've reached 11 weeks!

Some Baby Beck specs for the week:

>>11 weeks old
>>1.6 inches long
>>weighs 0.25 ounces
>>the size of a lime
>>29 weeks left

How far along? 11 weeks, 2 days
Total weight gain/loss: 1 ish pound- we don't own a scale so I just weigh in at my Dr.'s appointments
Maternity clothes? None yet. Gonna put that off for as long as I can!
Stretch marks? No, and I am hoping to avoid them!
Sleep: I get massive waves of sleepiness randomly throughout the day starting at about 5 o'clock. On days that I don't have surgeries to do, I sometimes have to take a nap:) At night I am sleeping great despite my frequent need to get up and pee:)
Best moment this week: This past week (last week)we got our first ultrasound! I am somewhat glad we didn't get one until 10 weeks along (not by choice, just my provider's standard) because we could see everything down to little fingers! It was so much more exciting.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Without question I would say sushi! However, my doctor actually told me that I can have it, if it's certain kinds of fish (yes, insert gasps here) and that the real concern is mercury- which is mostly in odd fish that I don't eat anyway. Also a typical concern is foodborne illness and bacteria- did you know wasabi kills all foodborne bacteria when consumed with sushi? Also if it is from upscale, well-known restaurants it is likely they know how to prepare fish well, and safely. He told me to just avoid little hole-in-wall shops that might be sketchy. He said the risk of an issue from sushi is so, so slim in comparison to a multitude of other things, and that people get overly freaked out about it. Ka-ching. Sushi on occasion!

(Ps, my doctor has delivered over 15,000 babies and I trust him with my whole heart. ;) )
Movement: On the ultrasound yes, but I won't feel it for another few weeks!
Food cravings: I am loving colby-jack cheese sticks?! And watermelon! What else.. oh my gosh. Spaghetti squash! Mmm with salt and pepper. I am eating it now:) also sweets in general... but that is nothing new to me! I can eat pretty much anything, but once I eat something I just usually don't want it again for a long time. That is how I am currently feeling about Chinese food.. done with that for a while!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not any food or food smells, but smells like exhaust from (husband's) motorcycle, some soap and some people's perfume. For some reason exhaust really, really makes me sick! So weird. Just like the faint smell of it on Mitch's clothes after he rides his bike is what does it. I just make him shower and change every time he rides it. Haha.
Have you started to show yet: The doctor said he could feel a small bump and I can see it, but Mitch insists I look the same:)
Gender prediction: Girl- both of us think so even though Mitch still prays that it might be a boy:)
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Weekly Wisdom: Okay. I have been beyond lucky that I never got morning sickness. My advice- DRINK a ton! I have had almost no morning sickness or nausea and I credit it to 1)my prenatal vitamin and the amount of B vitamins it has- and being on that for 2 years before I was pregnant, and 2) the amount of fluids I have been drinking. When I would get occasional small waves of nausea, but not a ton of food sounded good- I just would drink lemonade or gatorade and its literally amazing what that did. I hardly ever experienced it. I just was almost constantly drinking. Get a cute waterbottle that you love and fill it up multiple times a day. Never let your stomach be empty, and when it is, sip on something until you can get some food. You'll feel great!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender in ~4 weeks!!!
